About Rosacea
Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease that causes facial redness. You may mistake
some of its characteristics – Small, red, pus-filled bumps or pustules – for acne. Many have observed that it typically begins any time after the age of thirty as a redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead, that may come and go. Over time, the redness tends to become ruddier and more persistent and visible blood vessels appear. Left untreated, bumps and pimples will often develop.
Although rosacea can affect all segments of the population, individuals with fair skin who tend to flush or blush easily are usually at the greatest risk.
Although there is no cure for rosacea, it can be treated and controlled. The goals of treatment are to control the condition and improve the appearance of the client’s skin.
Laser therapy can be extremely effective in reducing the redness and removing small facial veins.
Topical creams and serums as well as proper skin care are also important in maintaining rosacea
Chemical peels will smooth the surface and will help to kill bacteria and reduce the redness with little or no stinging.
